When an indivudual is diagnosed with both central sleep apnea and obstructive sleep apnea, his condition is classfied as afflicted by Mixed apnea and complex sleep apnea. Central Sleep Apnea can also show even when obstructive sleep apnea syndrome is severe and longstanding, In case of OSA,Irregular functioning of CO2 feed back and acid-base,more often than not, causes central respiratory system to collapse during sleep.

At a recent research conference,the AARC 2006 in Las Vegas, NV, researchers reported successful treatment of hundreds of patients on Adapt SV therapy and it is expected that these data will be available in peer reviewed publications by mid-2007.
